This week, we’re handing over the News section to one of the team in South Wales who declared “I wouldn’t have worked in supported housing recruitment in Cardiff for so long if it wasn’t for BRC.”

Karolina Borycka is a Managing Consultant working in the Cardiff office who recently celebrated her fourth work anniversary with BRC Jobs in Wales.

We caught up with her to find out more about her role within the company.

What led you to join BRC in 2018?

“I had moved to Cardiff after completing my degree in Sheffield in International Tourism Management and going travelling. My sisters were based in South Wales, and I got through both interview rounds with BRC Jobs in 2018.”

How did your career at BRC Jobs in Cardiff start out?

“I started as a Resourcer and was supporting a Consultant with a supported housing desk in Manchester. I soon got promoted to Trainee Consultant and started working my own desk.”

“There was lots of classroom-based training, loads of phone work, client roleplay situations and candidate generation.”

Does the company welcome and encourage career progression?

“Absolutely. There is so much on-the-job training and in four years I’ve been promoted regularly. I have worked up from Senior Consultant to Managing Consultant at BRC Cardiff.”

Which areas of Wales do you provide supported housing support for?

“BRC Jobs cover the entire remit for Cardiff and Wales in general. I work with different charities and housing associations in Newport, Swansea, Bridgend, Cwmbran and the Valleys.”

What’s the best part of working as a Consultant in social housing?

“It is really fast-paced, and getting candidates for some clients can be last-minute. We have superb relationships with our clients and candidates, and I love providing cover for clients with really reliable people on our books.”

What do you particularly like about working at BRC Jobs in Cardiff?

“The main age range of our supported housing consultants is from 19-28. BRC has a young, dynamic and sociable team with a low staff turnover rate in the recruitment sector. BRC is really personable with loads of support.”
