SUPPORT WORKER – Veterans

 

LOCATION:       Wrexham.

HOURS:             Full Time

START DATE:   ASAP

DURATION:       2 months

HOURLY RATE:£11.55 basic + £1.45 holiday           

 

A longstanding and established homeless charity in Wrexham are recruiting for a Support Worker to start ASAP on a temporary contract.

 

You will be working for a longstanding charity that has provided accommodation and support services for veterans and those at risk of homelessness. The charity specialises in offering services for people with multiple, complex support needs; people who, because of their high needs, are often excluded from other services and have difficulty in accessing and retaining accommodation.

 

You will be working as part of an enthusiastic team who provide support in temporary accommodation service for people waiting for housing support from the local housing department.

 

As a Support Worker, you will be required to support individuals through their time in the project, managing a caseload, creating resettlement plans and signposting to further services, with the aim to successfully source a longer-term housing solution.

 

Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

 

  • Ensuring that residents wellbeing needs are met.
  • Providing compassionate support and practical advice.
  • Ensuring the correct safeguarding procedures are in place.
  • Working on a one-to-one basis and in small groups with clients.
  • Encouraging residents to engage in activities.

 

The right candidate for this role will be self-motivated and driven, able to manage their own caseload of clients as well as cooperating within a wider team. Previous experience working with vulnerable individuals is required, as well as an ability to create and maintain lasting relationships.
