BRC are working with a Reputable Local Authority in the South West who are looking for an experienced Building Control Surveyor to inspect works in progress and control of demolitions and dangerous structures

Main Responsibilities:

1. Ensure that new building developments and alterations to existing buildings, including residential, industrial, retail, schools, hospitals, theatres and sports establishments meet the requirements of Building Regulations and provide a fire safe, healthy and safe environment for persons in and about those buildings
2. Examine deposited plans for compliance with Building Regulations and Building Act requirements to meet KPI’s conducting consultations with applicants, professional agents and consultative bodies, negotiating amendments and recommending approval or refusal
3. Conduct site inspections of works in progress for compliance with Building Regulations under Full Plans, Building Notice and Regularisation procedures
4. Produce and maintain electronic records of site works which includes the production of letters, notifications, reports, completion certificates and other documents on the document storage system
5. In the case of potentially dangerous structures, attend emergency callouts for immediate response to requests from Emergency Services, determine the scale and nature of emergency measures to make them and the public safe including issuing Statutory and demolition notices
6. Comply with the Council’s Health and Safety at Work policies and understand reasons for on-site safety i.e. protective clothing, scaffold, ladder and deep excavation safety

Job Requirements

• Driver with access to own vehicle
• Previous Building Control experience
• HNC/HND or equivalent
