Are you looking for a testing yet rewarding front line role supporting clients who are in housing crisis? If so, a reputable not for profit organisation in the Rhondda Cynon Taff are recruiting for a Support Worker to step in to their Homelessness Prevention service.
Working closely with the Local Authorities Homeless Caseworkers, you will provide housing related support for clients over the age of 16. You will assist with sourcing suitable accommodation, maximising income through various benefits and grants, managing debt, addressing housing crisis issues (i.e. rent arrears, evictions etc.) and making referrals to specialist advice and support agencies.
To be successful in this position, you will need to be proactive and persistent in your approach to preventing homelessness. You will have a good understanding of housing options (private & social housing), the housing application process, the benefit system and the Welfare Reform. You will also need the confidence to manage your own workload and have the ability to work using your own initiative to tackle crisis situations.
The post is easily accessible and based within a 15 mile commute of both Cardiff and Bridgend. Additionally, you will benefit from a competitive hourly rate and be provided with complementary onsite parking.
