On Friday 15th May, Ian Thomas and Richard Thomas from our Cardiff Office took part in Give & Gain Day 2015.
Give & Gain Day, which is organised by Business in the Community, aims to help communities prosper by “getting unprecedented numbers of people out volunteering across the globe, (they) champion the talent, skill and energy found in business and the role it can play in helping communities…”. Give & Gain Day isn’t isolated to just the UK but 32 countries across the globe, with business volunteers supporting approximately 860 Community Organisations.
Ian and Richard were two of over 1,100 volunteers who took part in Wales alone alongside companies such as Cynon Taf Housing, Hugh James and RCT Homes.
Ian and Richard were part of a team of volunteers in Penygraig and were tasked with improving the local Junior School envrionment-painting Fencing and the School Gates as well as planting Hanging Baskets. This was part of a number of activites that took place in Penygraig as part of Give & Gain Day. The town centre redevelopment continued from last years Give & Gain Day with new signs being donated and hung by Monwel Ltd for Town Centre Stores and the much anticipated launch of free wi-fi in the Town Centre.
BRC are due to hold a networking event in the near future in aid of the continued redevelopment of Penygraig with the overall aim of helping to boost the local economy.
