The winners of the 2017 Women in Housing Awards were announced last week at a fabulous event held at the prestigious Hilton Manchester Deansgate. The awards recognise and celebrate the endless talent and achievements of women across the UK housing sector, consequently the success of the awards was reflected in the impressive 250+ nominations over 10 categories. An independent panel of 15 judges determined the worthy winners.
The ceremony was hosted by Liz Green, multi award winning radio presenter and producer at BBC Leeds and the winners were presented with their awards by guest speaker, well known comedian Shapi Khorsandi. During the ceremony, over £2000 was raised for Girls Out Loud, a charity which inspires a whole generation of young girls across the UK to become confident all-round citizens.
BRC were very proud to be sponsoring the Exemplary Housing Professional Award which was won by Jen Barfoot from Homes in Sedgemoor. Jen is passionate about people and housing and has spent 37 years working in a variety of roles across the sector. An energetic and inspirational leader, Jen over comes barriers, drives positive change and ‘brings people along with her’. A fantastic role model for all women.
Congratulations to Jen and all the worthy winners.
