Regional Business Manager Ian Thomas is celebrating 7 years with BRC this week and has been looking back over his career with the company:
“I joined BRC in 2009 as an experienced Recruiter. I had worked in the industry for 6 years, specialising in construction and property, and I was ready for a new challenge. I was aware of BRCs reputation in the social housing sector and I was excited to have the opportunity to work for a market leader.
My initial remit was to expand the social housing maintenance business across South Wales. I was given lots of support in the beginning but also allowed the autonomy to plan my own time and to make decisions. My strategy was simple; focus on giving the best possible service to our customers and the candidates we work with. Rather than just sitting in the office sending emails, I made the effort to meet people, and I focussed on matching individuals with the right opportunity for them.
Following my initial success I was given the opportunity to lead the Cardiff Office. My responsibilities then also included developing the BRC brand across South Wales, working with our experienced consultants, and recruiting and training new members of staff.
More recently I have been promoted to the position of Regional Business Manager. I now oversee all of our business activity in Wales and manage a team of 10. My job is certainly challenging, but I work with a great team of people and really enjoy what I do.”
