BRC have been approached by a South Wales based Domestic Abuse Charity to recruit for a Community Support Worker in Bridgend to start immediately on a short term temporary part-time contract (30 hours per week).
DAY TO DAY DUTIES:
o Provide a range of social, emotional and practical support to women and children who have suffered from domestic violence in a safe house and those living in the community
o Work within the Supporting People Framework to enable women to make positive changes to their lives in order to increase safety, well-being and to reduce the threats of homelessness
o Carry out regular risk and needs assessments
o Ensure client needs are assessed regularly and support plans are in place and adhered to
o Refer clients to third party agencies and services as appropriate, for example MARAC, substance misuse, debt advice, Social Services and the Benefits Office
o Ensure accurate case records are maintained; adhering to data protection policies
o Support service users to maintain licence agreements
o Act as an advocate on behalf of service users encouraging and supporting self-advocacy as appropriate
o Experience providing a front line support service to a vulnerable client groups living in the community or within supported housing
o A strong understanding of the support needs and challenges faced by clients who have or are suffering from Domestic Abuse.
o A full driving license and access to a car
o Experience supporting women or families who have suffered from domestic violence
